Bangkok – Thailand, On Thursday, February 2, 2023, Professor Dr. Vipan Prajuabmoh, Project Director of the SATREPS DREAM Area-BCM Project, together with Prof. Kenji Watanabe, Principal Investigator of the project, along with project members from Chulalongkorn University. From the Faculty of Engineering: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natt Leelawat, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Anurak Sriariyawat,  and from College of Population Studies: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rattiya Bhula-or, Dr. Chutaporn Amrapala, and Dr. Tadashi Nakasu, and the SATREPS DREAM Area-BCM Project Coordinator, Mr. Yoshiaki Miura, visited the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Ministry of Interior. Mr. Boontham Lertsukkasem, Deputy General of DDPM, also Executive Directors and Chief of groups, warmly welcomed the visiting team. The purpose of the visit was to present the progress of the project and discuss project implementation guidelines and activities to enhance cooperation.

The meeting included two areas of discussion: 

Academic Area: SATREPS Area-BCM Project and DDPM discussed proposed academic activities in the near future, such as training in the Area Business Continuity Management course, as well as other academic activities. 

Technical Area: Technical information was also shared and discussed during the meeting. This included information regarding measuring for the International Standard Organization (ISO), as well as safety standards as part of the Japanese system implementation. 

SATREPS DREAM Area-BCM would like to express gratitude to DDPM for the warm welcome, information sharing, and guidelines. We hope that our valuable discussion will benefit our project implementation and lead to successful achievement. 

The SATREPS DREAM (Area-BCM) Project is a joint research project between Japan and Thailand under the SENDAI framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The project is schemed to launch a sustainable economic growth platform through disaster resilience enhancement at Industry complexes in Thailand and input to ISO/TC292 by the year 2023.
